M. C. Hersey & Son Ltd is a Silversmiths based in London manufacturing sterling silver tableware as well as jewellery and contemporary silver gifts for all ages. All our silverware bears our own hallmark and until recently was only available in exclusive stores but now we have created our website, www.hersey.co.uk to enable everyone to easily purchase our products.
The founder of the company, Michael Hersey, established the business in 1971 having served 17 years as a silver spinner in Soho. His son, Stewart, joined him in 1981 after training as a silversmith at London Guildhall University. He has since taken over the business, moving it forward and bringing new designs with him.
The company bases its production on silver spinning. The spinner starts with a circle of silver which is then formed over a pre-made chuck to give the shape of the object to be made. It is a highly skilled job taking about five years to perfect. Because of the high quality of the initial silver circle and the process of spinning that further burnishes the silver, the end result is of the highest quality.
The much-loved, traditional pieces of tableware include silver candlesticks, salt and pepper mills, napkin rings plus the ever-popular wine coasters, which are spun into various designs that will adorn any stylish table.
Stewart’s aim is to produce silver gifts for everyone. In addition to the tableware, M. C. Hersey & Son Ltd also produces a select range of sterling silver jewellery. For men, various designs of cufflinks are always popular. The silver bangles or new hand-made chain bracelet are always stylish for ladies and for children, the baby bangle or expanding bracelet are a classic choice.
Already having experience in exporting products to our regular clients in the Netherlands, Denmark and Australia, we would like to extend our customer base to more countries worldwide. Shipments are sent out via International courier ensuring a swift, traceable service door to door. Internet sales have also meant that products are distributed to North America, Japan and various other destinations in Europe.
