A silver chopstick rest is an elegant way of keeping chopstick tips from touching a tabletop. Although they wouldn’t be used for everyday meals at home, a chopstick rest will be used in a restaurant and for formal dining at home.
In Japan a chopstick rest is called a hashioki, and range from simple wooden rests through to ones made from porcelain or, as in this instance, silver.
If you are serving a Japanese meal, or Japanese inspired meal, at home where you intend to use chopsticks you should know that the chopstick tips should point to the left and be parallel to the table edge at the front of the place setting.
We have recently introduced hashioki to our range of Silver Tableware. You can personalise them with a name or initials.
