Make Your Mark Award Silver Beaker

We were delighted to welcome Annabel Hood to the workshop on Wednesday where we helped her to make the lovely silver beaker that she designed for the Make Your Mark Award. Alison and Charlotte from the Goldsmiths Company Assay Office were also here.

Annabel, who is studying at Edinburgh won 1st Prize for her design which features an engraved leopards head alongside large London hallmarks. She worked with our silver spinner Steve Trowles and the outcome was very successful! They produced a gorgeous silver beaker which Pete King then polished for her.

We used Argentium Silver, kindly donated by Allied Gold as part of Annabel’s prize. The silver which contains Germanium as part of the alloy, and is much more resistant to tarnish than standard silver, was beautiful to use and we will certainly be using it again.

Annabel left very happy and will now go off and engrave the beaker. We look forward to seeing the final result!
